    Amy Lauren Strickland Treadway

Amy and her husband, Brandon, were both raised in the great state of Georgia, not too far from the track. As a child, Amy always loved horses and was an avid horseracing fan, reading books like The Black Stallion and National Velvet. Riding whenever possible, she found that through art, she could bring to life many of her favorite horses and feel like a part of the racing participants. To gain more experience in the art world, she worked a couple internships at the Booth Western Art Museum in Cartersville, GA. While attending the Kentucky Derby for the first time after graduating from Woodland High School, she knew going forward that horse racing would take center stage in her art. Studying art from colleges such as Reinhardt College and Shorter College as well as being mentored by other professional artists, she transitioned from a more photorealistic style to the bright and energetic forms you see today. Shortly after graduating from the University of Georgia, Brandon and Amy moved to southern California. It was there that Amy visited the prominent west coast tracks and ultimately got connected with the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club. She has had her work on display at Del Mar for the past several years and has had paintings signed by Justify’s jockey, Mike Smith and famous trainer, Bob Baffert. She is most excited to be creating an original work for the Georgia Steeplechase and is a vocal supporter for bringing even more horse racing to Georgia. When she is not painting, she is at the track planning to own racehorses of her own or spending time with her husband Brandon and her cat, Gamer. You can find her work on display in a few local galleries, but much of her work is located on her main website gallery where it can be viewed and purchased online at

    Horsepower of a Different Color

Whether it is a single horse under saddle or 450 horses under the hood, you can be sure to see horse power exploding off the page! Movement, Color , ExCiTeMeNt, and Passion are elements I focus on in my paintings. In a tempest of splattered color, composition, and geometric shapes, the excitement of motion is captured in highly rendered detail. I love color; bright, intense colors with high contrast. From prancing ponies to pony cars, each painting is an exquisite and unique work of art. The viewer is intentionally engulfed in an intense moment of excitement. Muscle and speed of every kind is beautifully captured. Although I am not limited to these subjects, horse racing is a reoccurring theme in my work. Horses lend themselves well to painting motion. I am an avid horse racing fan along with a variety of equestrian activities. My hope is to capture the passion people and I have about racing in my art. I like to create energetic feel to each piece; capturing the strong emotions of the subject matter. This is emphasized by movement that is rendered through lines, paint, color, and style. My style is outrageous and full of life; it’s definitely a horse of a different color you might say. My hope my paintings can take you to a place where you can feel the atmosphere of excitement and relive some of your favorite racing moments.
